What is AutPlay Therapy?

AutPlay Therapy is a play-based comprehensive therapy approach for Autism Spectrum Disorder and other neuro-developmental disorders developed by Dr. Robert Jason Grant.  Family involvement is a primary component of this modality, which is effective for children and teens.  Parents learn to use the fun, play-based, interventions with their child/ren at home to increase attunement, emotional regulation, social skills, and relationship connection.  This therapy approach incorporates eleven evidence-based practices including cognitive behavioral interventions, modeling, naturalistic intervention, parent implemented intervention, reinforcement, scripting, self-management, social skills training, and visual supports.

Play Therapy

“Child-driven, hands on play is the foundation of creativity, constructive problem solving, and the capacity to self-regulate” (Susan Linn p.2 in Dana Foundation’s Brain in the News, vol. 21, no.6).  Play is the child’s language.  Using the healing power of therapeutic play, the child leads the way to healthier development, relationships, and healthy sense of self.  In addition to the Child-Centered Play Therapy approach, I incorporate cognitive-behavioral play-based interventions and attachement-based play therapy to help children increase social-emotional development and connection skills.  For more information call or contact Jane McKinney at janemckinneyabl@gmail.com; phone: 816-470-9023.

Family Therapy

The goal of Family Therapy is to restore the joy of parenting and control back to you.  In family and filial therapy you will rediscover joy in your relationship with your child and feel more confident in your parenting.   Family Therapy is offered both as a therapy modality and as a parent training component of other therapy approaches.  For more information contact Jane McKinney at janemckinneyabl@gmail.com; phone: 816-470-9023.
